I got an email from "someone" who was offended by yesterdays post about my darling Yorkipoo, Reilly, and the baby Guinea. "Someone" said that if I were going to exploit my pet for amusement purposes that just maybe I should not be a pet owner, and also that I did not seem to be concerned for the welfare of the tiny Guinea if I let my dog that close to it. Initially I was all upset and hurt, then I got mad.
First off "someone" can kiss my ass. I love animals as much as anyone (more than the average person). I take wonderful care of Reilly and my cats and have rescued many animals over the years and taken in strays. I AM concerned about the welfare of the Guinea which is why i'm having my husband build it a pen so it will have some modicum of safety from predators. It's not my bird but I will do what I can to look after it's welfare. I am always checking on my niece's dogs and rabbits to make sure they have what they need also (food,water,shade) but she is an excellent pet owner as well in my opinion.
Well now that i've got that off my chest I want to wish you all a WONDERFUL week-end. Some have to work Monday (I don't) but i'm sure i'll blog from home.

and "someone" needs her damm asss swamp kicked . . . get a fuggin grip on reality. Like you would let the dog actually kill harm or eat the bird. Jeesh.

"Someone" was probably well-intentioned. But give me (us!) a break here. I wonder if "someone" read the whole post. Now harm was done, and you weren't exactly setting up an experiment to see which of them would survive a foray! You were attentive to the situation! I can't help but wonder if "someone" has even been around when a new pet is added to the home. There is always a little bit of spitting, growling, circling, swatting, chasing, etc. Next time, add this line: NOTICE:NO LIVING CREATURE WAS HARMED IN THIS GETTING-TO-KNOW-EACH-OTHER EVENT. Add my ass to the line up!
**Sigh** There is always some sanctimonious loser that wants to be everyone's parent. Tell her/him to go drill an oil well in Alaska! Oh wait, you already did your bit didn't you?

Nothing riles us animal lovers up more than being falsely accused - that's why that comment 'got to you'. I left Laddie in the car for 30 seconds one day, bought a coffee and hopped back in the air-conditioned car. As I got in the car a man came up SCREAMING at me for leaving Laddie in the car. He refused to believe I'd only been gone for 30 seconds. He refused to believe that the car had been running with the AC on the whole time. I was an abuser, and there was nothing I could say to console him. That bugged me for days.
Nobody ever gives me a hard time, and I would find it amusing. Tell "somebody" I've drowned kittens that have more attitude than you, patti_cake, and they should have a go at me.
How did they get your e-mail address? You don't post it on your profile, so does that mean it was somebody you know? Or did you take some psycho's personality quiz and accidentally reveal yourself?
I agree--there's one in every crowd. They need to see this for what it was---harmless fun - and a curious interaction between two sweet animals who'd never seen the likes of the other before. We all have funny stories about our pets..Many pets like to rough-house, play aggressively or have their moments when meeting new animal friends. I thought it was Cute!
Anyway...
I've always subscribed to the MYOB theory. (Mind Your Own Business) - And my first grade teacher always said "Don't worry about your neighbor" meaning - don't worry about what other kids were doing...I think more people should go by this as a Life Motto...the world would be a much nicer place, with less hatred and violence if everyone did....

Mama always said: "For every toilet seat made there is an as*ho*e to fit it" ... I guess that's rather harsh, as perhaps "someone" was well intentioned, but 'delivery is everything' ... and perhaps if SOMEONE worded their email a little differently, it wouldn't have upset you so. ?? Man.

I love that t-shirt. When I started going through this crap with The Idiot - Sandra and another friend gave me a card that had that saying on it. I refer to it often.
