I'm all registered for school i'll be going on Monday & Wednesday from 5pm-9pm. I am not sure how Stacy really feels about it. I know he doesn't mind I just... I don't know. He didn't have much to say when I told him but what did I expect him to do? Jump for joy. Us women are weird sometimes - I admit it! I hope I like it. It is going to be tres' strange being in a classroom again and i'm sure i'll be the oldest one there! Oh well I do think i'm doing the right thing. I think a safety next is exactly what I need and if I do get laid off i'll start full-time after the first of the year and get done even sooner.
Question: If you could go back to school, time and money are of no object what would you be?
Too Salty for my Own Good

Hey! Stacy is very proud of you.
If it makes you happy it makes him
happy.
You'll love it! Also, you have a
very big cheering section!
I'm so happy for you!!!!!!
HUGS!!!!!!!
School? What you going back for? How did I miss this???
I think you are ABSOLUTELY making the right decision though...a safety net is ALWAYS a good thing!
I'd go back to school in a heartbeat if I could. And it would have to be something to do with animals (not a vet though). A vet tech. or a zookeeper would be okay...but what I REALLY want to do is wildlife rehabilitation...and they don't really teach stuff like that in schools...it comes from learning from another rehabber. You have to spend a certain amount of hours volunteering with one in order to BECOME one!
Since I just got out of school I'd have to wait a couple of years to even consider going back. I probably would go for graphics design or something to compliment my degree.
A dermatologist!
Hi! I just jumped over from Chelle's blog to meet you! I see you are from Darlington, SC. I am in Whiteville, NC...across the border from ya! LOL! My husband and son are big nascar fans, so Darlington is familiar to us! I did a post of Charlotte and my husband's vintage race car a couple of days ago.
Wishing you lots of luck in your school ventures! I have a college education, and still am trying to decide what I am want to be when I grow up! LOLOL! I have the upmost respect for anyone who goes back to school, while married, with children, and working a full-time job!
Take Care & hope this heatwave isn't too tough on you! ~Rhonda
I'd find the class entitled:
How to marry rich and sit on your dead ass for the rest of your life in 3 easy steps.
Is there one of those?
Congratulations! I hope you like it!
I'm not so sure I'd want to go to school. My bachelor's degree took enough time/money! But I might like to take some photography classes. Ideally, I'd like to be tutored, not do classes, I guess. Too much structure in classes.
When I was in high school, I REALLY wanted to be a county agent. I was in 4-H and the county agent worked with any and all things 4-H among other things including agriculture. My parents shot me down with that idea. I also would have liked to have been an airline stewardess. Again, the parents shot me down. If I could go to college, I'd probably try or the county agent thing.
I was gonna say something like fulfill my lifelong dream of being a large animal vet....or finish pastry school. UNTIL I read Southern Fried Girl's comment. Now I just want to be in THAT class. Sign me up TODAY!!!!
I would LOVE to be going back to school. Those were the best days of my life and I really miss having someone teaching and guiding me. Good for you!
I'll be a highly educated Japanese porn star. What are you going to be?
First of all, I predict you will love being a student. And being "older" can be a benefit. Attending evening classes may surprise you, because there will be others your age, and probably older, too. Even the younger student in night classes are serious students, so the atmosphere is comfortable.
Stacy is/will be very proud of you. He is probably a bit nervous as you take this step, because he wonders how it may change you. Once he recognizes that you are still you (is that good or bad? LOL!!), he will relax. It is a big step for you both. Oh, and some men worry about their wives being more educated than themselves. I don't know his education level, but that might make him a little nervous, too. It will pass.
If I could go back to school and $$ were no object? I'd be (still) retired and rich!!!! hee, hee!! Why spoil a good thing? I've had enough careers in my life already!
Laurie- Thank you hon!
Stacy PQ- Going back to be an elementary school teacher. I somehow already knew what you would pick *wink*
Shell- Ms. Practical *grin*
Cheeky- Well that caught me by surprise!
Rhonda- Thank you I will have to check out your blog as well!
SFG- Uh, if there is SIGN ME UP!
Jessica- Understood!
Daisy- Sounds cool and what a shame your parents shot you down..
Andie- LOL well I like the idea of pastry school too... me, who can NOT cook!
Martini- That is a GREAT attitude!
Grant- They have schools for that?! Elementary school teacher...
Lynilu- Thank you so much for that very insightful and inspiring post!
That is absolutely wonderful, Patti ! I am so glad for you. I bet you will really enjoy it. There is such a difference between being an adult and willingly going back for fun and curiosity, versus being a kid who has to be in class and couldn't care less.
I would be a homicide detective if I could do my life all over again. Or an architect as my second choice. Both are my passions.
Best of luck to you in school!!!
xoxo
Linda
Annie- Well you are taking some architect stuff aren't you? Thank you!
Linda- Thank you so very much! It's good to see you!
Well so far I have been a kindergarten teacher and now I'm a police chick (I know, weird career transition). But....if I went back with no time or money constraints I'd move to NYC and go to school for Fashion Design, become a world famous designer, buy a home in Greece, party on yachts all day and night, and marry Tom Petty....
Whoa. I got a little carried away. ;)
Occupational Therapist....Good luck to you. You can do it!!!!Schools easier when you are older, and paying for it too...LOL
Speech Therapist would be my second choice...
Retired by the time I graduated.
Congrats!
Yeah, I have no idea of what I want to do for the next million years until I retire.
Patti - Way to go and Congrats!!
I entered college as a first-time freshman at 32 years old - so I know how you feel...It's scary and exciting!! You'll love it! I'm so happy for you! I'm sure Stacy is really proud!!
Ever since I graduated college, I've sorta missed it. I'd be a lifelong student if it wasn't so expensive!
If I could go back now and pick any career option...hmm. I'd probably become a clinical psychologist. I find people and their behavior very interesting.
I'd also love to take art classes, landscape design and education as well. (I'm fickle...I like too many things!)
An archeologist!
By the way, the Tiamat story is on the blog!
Kristy- Ha ha yours was very entertaining though. Hey my SIL (who lives in Charlotte) went from Police Chick to Nurse so.....
Chelle- I am hoping you are right! Good choices!
Walker- Okay, Okay. I'll take that answer.
Bella- Crunch numbers *snicker*
Retro- It will be weird going back as an older student for sure!
Tigeryogiji- Ya snuck in there on me! That would be interesting, I lurk on Homer's blog sometimes because I find archaeology so interesting (and like Homer's writing also!) Off to read about Tiamat! hehe...
Good for you!
I'd like to be some sort of nurse that works with old people. I think.
A Forensics invesigator!
Uh, investigator.
Chickie- Ooh I love old people, they are so smart and entertaining!
Sandra- I knew what you meant LOL and THAT is very interesting!!!
Going back to school is never a wrong decision if it is it what you want to do!
I did the school thing, then more of the school thing.....so, would I go back? I have done the teacher and principal thing. I doubt it.
I loved school as an "adult", you will to.
High school teacher of something really cool.
tommie- I wouldn't want to be a principal for sure!
MJ- I hope so!
Maybe Stacey isn't too excited to be both mom and dad to the little one and supper time cook for those two days. But he won't say anything, because he knows how much you want to go to school. I think that would be my feeling anyway.
