I was going to do a me~me but I was reading about storms etc. and got to thinking about them. I LOVE a good storm. I love lightening, thunder, wind, to see the rain lashing against the windowpane. I don't like go out in a bad storm or especially not drive in rain. I love to be home safe and sound with Stacy and Madison and the pets with a good storm. It's been awhile since we've had a good storm too. Seems like we got more when we lived on Warley Street.Maybe it was the "haunted" aspect? Hmmmm...
I think an ideal vacation for me (other than the beach - duh) would be staying in a big old bed and breakfast or an old hotel and have a rip roaring thunderstorm while cuddled up in bed with Stacy. I would LOVE that! Love it!
Here is my scenario: I would be surrounded by soft white snowy sheets and a thick fluffy comforter and have a big mug of hot sweet milky tea beside me. I can see the rain and wind and dark grey sky through french doors across from the bed. It is cold outside and we have a fire crackling in the fireplace as well but the ceilings are so high that it does little to make a difference as far as warmth goes (hence the thick comforter). The fireplace is mainly a "mood setter" and for atmosphere! Ahhh a girl can dream......
We need rain so badly around here and none in sight. My ferns are dying, my geraniums aren't looking very sporty either. I am bad about forgetting to water. That is why we need a good storm this evening. I'm putting in my order with Mother Nature. Back when we were seriously racing every week, it would rain-rain-rain and I would get so aggravated because it interfered with racing. Now I don't think they've had a single rain-out this whole season and if so, than i'm sure it's been only one.
Tell me what you do or don't like about rain.

I love a good storm. Love the rain too, just hate it right before I am supposed to do an outdoor activity.
I love a good storm too....especially when I'm laying in bed. One of my favorite storms was actually at the beach. The PK and I had gone there in November to celebrate our anniversary...and it was a bit chilly out and this storm comes thru and it was great. We had "Silence of the Lambs" on the TV (we'd each seen it a hundred times already) and we sat by the picture window, watching it storm and drank mugs of hot chocolate. Not very sexy...but very cozy and relaxed.
Girl we have had so much rain lately. Well not so much the past two weeks or so. There for awhile I think I saw more mushrooms growing than grass.
Katie- Ditto! I don't like to be outside in the rain trying to do something either
Stacy PQ- It sounds WONDERFUL to me!
Shell- I know, y'all have certainly been "rain po" this summer!
Dear Lord, I love me a good thunderstorm.. that sounds so peaceful right now!
Hi there...I am in the same town (kinda sorta) as Denny, but did not go visit him. I think it was Brighton (on my blogroll at the top, Day in the Night of a Stripper) that was interested in going and seeing him. I think she ended up not going (yet) but has more information on that than I do. I think she's also talked to his brother. Try her and see what she has to say.
I LOVE the rain. We get some good thunderstorms here in KC. My front porch faces west, so I can sit there and stay dry while I watch them roll in. A cup of hot tea to drink, and that's heaven! And I love to watch snow fall, too. It's so quiet and peaceful. Oliver is not scared of the storms, either. He is happy to sit on my lap and watch too. He is really a big baby!
Sheila- It does, doesn't it?!
Milkmaid- Okay and thank you so much!
Sheryl- I'm seeing alot more people love the rain than dislike it!
I so love rain. It is just the best. Home all warm and dry and all the wind and rain lashing about. Just fab.
:)
I LOVE the rain, especially when it's at night or after we've gone thru a long long dry spell. The smells are soooo....um...earthy. LOL...it's calming to me. I however do NOT like the rain in the winter, I hate freezing my big wet ass off.
i distinctly remember falling in love with rain in the 7th grade. my nutty parents were always grounding me for some minor infraction. the rain (and snow) made me feel like- if i had to stay inside, so did others, therefore i was not alone.
but today i simply love the rain for its beauty and its purity. i know that sounds corny, but it's true.
:)
PC -
I love really bad thunderstorms...I don't wish for flying cows or people getting hurt...but almost...and I am happy...I like to hear thunder so loud it rumbles the house :)

The Egel Nest
The more violent the storm, the more I like it, for some reason. I LOVE to watch nature's fury!
SFG- Sounds great!
Milkmaid- ooh I don't like freezing rain either!
ICSCN- Nope not corny at all and VERY true!
Bradley- Ooh me too! But Madison and the pets hate loud thunder
Pat- I like that- nature's fury!
I love good rainstorms, thunder and even lightening displays, but definitely without the bad stuff like tornadoes. Now Ali is terrified of them, so when they start I turn the music on and help him "forget" that it is happening. China used to not care either way, but recently she doesn't seem to like them. She doesn't get goofy like Ali, but she likes to sit very close to me. I like that!
And I realize that I'm talking about storms (which are aphrodisiacs for many people) and my dogs!! Gawd, I'm in bad shape, aren't I?? LOL!! I gotta get me a man!!!
I dont mind a good storm either as long as im sheltered...
I like it when the sky gets real dark right before the storm is coming. The wind picks up and you can smell the rain in the air. I love a good thunderstorm and I like when it rains hard for a while but then goes away and sun comes back out. As long as there is no threat of tornado I love a good storm too!
We need rain up here too. Looks like it may be coming!
I'm not a big fan of storms, rain is a good thing, but not storms. The lights go out from blown down wires, water leaks into my basement if the wind is coming from a certain direction and if it's bad enough, I loose cable. That means no internet, phone or TV. I need, need, need my internet!
I do love thunder storms, BUT here is a list of why I dont like them
*when it rains mystreet flood
*my daugheter hides under furntuire and talks about meeting God when teh weather is bad
*I hate mud
*My dog tracks in wet leaves and shit
I could go on and on..but I wont;)
Patti: I agree about the French doors and think often about Heather Locklear as my Guest! :D)!!
after you get done with Mother Nature, send her west and tell her to bring cooler weather with her.
Ooo, I love a good storm too. Especially at night. Ok, maybe not night, night! :-) Last year, we had a really bad storm and my hubby and I were awakened to a very loud noise at 2 something in the morning. We looked into the backyard and saw a long white object in the middle of the yard. Couldn't figure out what it was. So when daylight came, we noticed that it was one of our gutter spouts. We went outside to see where it had come from...only to see a big ole hole in the side out our house! That's the noise we heard...a HUGE branch thrusting into out house and in turn, knocking off the down spout. What fun!!! :-)
Talk about good sleeping weather...LOVE IT!!!
Sorry for my long story...but I had to share. (and if you wanna see pix, go to my blog and go back to April of last year...it's there somewhere...hee hee)
Have a great weekend.
Good Thursday evening Patti Cake !
I loved your scenario ! We need the rain badly here too !
I love the sound of it, and how the plants just rejoice in it, and how cozy it is to be inside when nature is crackling and crashing in its power outside !
*cyber hug and smiles to you and Madison and Stacy !*
Loving Annie
Lynilu- LMAO at the man comment!
HMM- me either!
Wendy- Nope, tornadoes are no bueno!
BTE- The first storm naysayer! but I hear ya! Valid points!
FFG- Aw feel free to go on and on!
Michael- Heather's not a bad choice
tommiea- Okay, order is in
Dawn- Long is good but storms that do damage to your house is NOT!
Loving Annie- Hi honey I hope things are going wonderfully for you! Thank you!
I must admit, I am not a big fan of thunderstorms. I am more of a gentle rain kinda gal. What I REALLY hate is if I have requested a coveted weekend off from work and have done so 3 or 4 weeks (as is required by Top Lady)in advance and I am looking SSSOOOO forward to having off and being able to do something with Man and it rains (or snows). Or if I am on a vacation or a get away and it rains.
Patti, don't laugh!! Find me one!!!!
Quite effective info, thanks so much for the post.
