We're Moving

I mentioned to Loving Annie early last week that I had a tough patch coming up. See, I knew at that time that we would probably be moving from my new (old) house on W***ey Street. While I love the house dearly I don't love the neighborhood it's in and it's not getting better - it's getting WORSE.
Three murders in the last month all within a few blocks or less.
A home invasion down the street last week.
Someone has broken into my car TWICE (I never blogged about the second time - redundant except they stole Madison's monogrammed diaper bag. Yeah. Nice).
Last week six police cruisers behind us,police wrestling a young man to the ground and my daughter saying "What he doing Mommy?". She doesn't need to witness that.
When do the guns start blazing? A bullet has no name. I was initially very upset to realize there is nothing I can do about these things... but move.
Luck has been on our side and we found a nice place to rent a few miles from my parents and we will have the option to buy if we wish. It's a nice brick home, three bedrooms, we have to finish the yard with a front section of privacy fence but that's no big deal It's got a brand new deck and a front porch and the front and back yards are both big (for my airblowns). The neighborhood is rural and doesn't have the "foot traffic" my present neighborhood does.
Although I am sad to leave my beautiful house I can make this other one a "home" as well and who knows.... maybe my Gone With The Wind House still awaits me somewhere down the line.
I will be emailing my new address. We should be in the new place by August 1st... if not sooner.

No wonder you can't sleep honey!

I am sorry things didn't work out but given the circumstances I think you are making the wise choice.

Call/email if you need to vent.

Awwww...that sucks girl.

You'll probably like this new place so much that you won't even be sad about the old place. The new one sounds spectacular.

These are the same reasons that I want to move out of the area that I live in.

Someone stole the tail gate off the bed of my truck. You had to have tools to be able to do that. It's not like it slides right off.

Someone walked up to our front porch and stole two rocking chairs. While we were home. In broad daylight.

The police helicopters are constantly circling overhead looking for someone.

Scary.

Aw Honey. That's terrible. Good plan though.

Once when I was a younger woman, I lived in...ah...a questionable neighborhood. My place got broken into while I was in it..nothing happened to me but they took all my stuff. I remember calling my dad and asking for money so I could put those metal bars on the windows. I didn't understand at the time why he was so irritated.
Can you imagine asking your dad for wrought-iron bars for your windows to keep the bad guys out?

Duh. He gave me money to move instead.

Chin up!

Cheeky- Thank You :)

Shell- I hope so!

Dixie- Ok girl you've got me beat. Your 'hood sounds way worse than mine!

Jenn- Thanks. You do what you must I guess. Glad you moved too.

Tammy- Thanks i'm certain too!

Good lord.

That sucks! Sounds like moving is a good idea though if there is that much crime going on around you. We are in a rural area and I love it. Helps that I have 7 dogs though too.

I want a Gone With the Wind house too! Love those big old houses!

I'd move too no matter what I thought about my house. A house just isn't worth the risk.

That's too bad, but I would hate to see your airblowns stolen.

No wonder you were having a tough patch, Patti !

Better safe than bullet-ridden, you are very right. No matter how cute the house, the bad neighbors and police and crime makes it not a good place for Madison to grow up.

It's a shame when neighborhoods go downhill. Three murders would have made me evacuate immediately.

I hope the new more rural place you live will have many compensations, Patti, like peace and safety and a lovely garden...

You will have your GWTW house one day, this is a just a pebble in the path to its winding tree arched driveway...

*hugs*

Moving sucks but if you have all that action going on in your hood...it's time to go!

I'm sure you will be happier in a safer area!

Shelly

Kami- you said it!

Wendy- That's still my dream (although the one we settled for and are moving from is by no means a GWTW house)

BTE- Nope it's not!

PTwinkie- It was a valid concern!

Loving Annie- Thanks, you've made me feel so much better!

Pack of 2- Thanks i'm sure we will too

This totally sucks Patti!!! But yeah, you have to do what you have to do to feel safe. How infuriating though.

Ack! Good luck! :)

Sandra- I was SO angry at first but I feel better about it now.

tigeryogi- Thanks!

I'm sorry that you have to move!

But if the situation is that bad, I'm glad you're leaving it. I want you to be safe and stuff! :)

And hopefully at the new house, there will be no creepy neighbors either!

And hey! I can send you housewarming gifts!

Jenie- Awww you are making me feel better already too! Thanks my dear sweet friend!

I am so sorry that you have to leave the house that you love. I feel the same way about the house that I am getting ready to move out of. I love the house, but the neighborhood is just getting scary. Wish I could just take the house to another part of the city. Looks like you and I will be moving around the same time. I move out on Aug. 3. You know if I lived closer I would come help.

Holy crap - I would say it is absolutely time to move. Creepy and scary! The new place sounds nice and I bet you will transform it into a perfect home in no time at all. :) Happy packing!

Aw, that's so sad. Sorry to hear of this stress you're living with. But Wow! I didn't know you lived on Wshitey Street! or, wait... was it Wfuckey Street?

Sounds very necessary, Patti! I have an elderly Aunt who refuses to face up to the fact her once pristine neighborhood is but a faded memory. And it's dangerous. Hope you guys can move ASAP!!! :)

Caroline- We are in the same boat cos' i'd take this house w/me in a heartbeat!

Casey- Thanks i'll do my best!

Martini- LOL you so crazy!

Michael- It is and I hope your Aunt moves too. It's sad though and probably doubly so for her.

sounds like it is in your best interest to move....

Packing up a home is a great time to get rid of all that crap you don't need. I actually start looking forward to it. With the military I have moving down to a fine art now! I can be pretty much unpacked, new house painted, in a week or so!

Not all of life's choices are easy ones, are they? I'm sorry you are having to move again, but the reasons are totally understandable. Stiff upper lip, girl!

tommiea- You are right and there is crap we need to get rid of!

Lynilu- Stiff upper lip firmly in place! ;)

Lee

good grief Patti, I had no idea it was that bad...living in the hood can be a challenge, we did it in Atlanta for about 5 years and went thru much of what you're talking about...sorry you're having to move, but it sounds like the best thing

Good luck with the move.

It sucks, but it sounds like it's something you have to do.

Oh yes..now I see why you are moving.
Good LORD.
Do we get to see pics of the new place?
Come on b...give um up.
LOL

Ah, man! And you were so psyched about that place! T'wasn't meant to be and it just means there's something better down the road for you and yours.

Wow! I don't blame you for moving either. I would be a nervous wreck! Glad you found somewhere you like :)

Well, that really sucks. A different house with no stray bullets flying around will make up for losing the Gone With The Wind house. But it still sucks.
